Privacy Policy for Mood
This Privacy Policy explains how Mood handles your data. Mood is built with privacy as a core principle: no user account is required, no developer backend is used, and the app does not track you.
Overview
Mood stores your entries on your device. If you enable iCloud for the app, your data can also sync and be restored using your personal Apple account. The app developer cannot access your mood data, photos, location data, or health-related data.
Information We Collect
Mood does not collect, store, or transmit personal information to the developer or third parties. The app does not collect:
- User accounts or passwords
- Email addresses (the app does not require one)
- Usage analytics or tracking data
- Advertising identifiers
- Device identifiers sent to the developer
- Mood notes, photos, location history, sleep data, or workout data on a developer server
Data Stored in the App
To provide Mood functionality, the app can store data such as:
- Mood entries (mood type, date, and optional note)
- Optional photos attached to mood entries
- Optional location name and coordinates for mood entries
- Optional weather context for a mood entry (if fetched by you)
- Optional sleep hours and workout context (if fetched by you via Apple Health permissions)
- App preferences and settings
This data remains under your control and no data is ever transfered to the developer.
iCloud Sync and Restore (Optional)
If you enable iCloud for Mood in your Apple settings, your Mood data can sync through your private iCloud storage so it can be restored on reinstall or used on your other Apple devices on the same account. The developer cannot access this data.
If iCloud is disabled, Mood works locally on your device only.
Health Data (Optional, Read-Only)
Mood can optionally read selected Apple Health data (such as sleep duration and workout session context) if you grant permission. Mood uses this only to show context in your entries and analytics. Mood does not write your mood data or notes to Apple Health.
The developer can never access your Apple Health data.
Location Data (Optional)
Mood only uses location when you choose to add a location to an entry or fetch weather for a location. The location is stored with your mood entry and is not sent to the developer.
The developer can never access your location data.
Photos (Optional)
If you attach a photo to a mood entry, the photo is stored with your mood data. Mood does not upload your photos to a developer server.
The developer can never access your photos.
Data Sharing and Export
Mood includes optional export/import features so you can move or back up your data yourself. Exports are initiated by you and remain under your control. Mood does not automatically share your data with anyone.
Third-Party Services
Mood relies on Apple system frameworks for app functionality, for example:
- MapKit (maps and place lookup)
- CoreLocation (optional location access)
- WeatherKit (optional weather context)
- HealthKit (optional sleep/workout context, read-only)
- iCloud sync (optional)
These services operate under Apple’s privacy policies. Mooddoes not integrate with advertising networks, analytics platforms, or external tracking SDKs.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your data stays on your device (and in your iCloud storage if enabled) until you delete it.
- You can delete individual mood entries in the app.
- You can use the in-app “Delete all mood data” action to remove all mood entries.
- Deleting the app removes the local copy on that device.
- If iCloud sync is enabled, deleting entries in the app may also remove them from your other devices using the same Apple account.
Children’s Privacy
Mood does not knowingly collect personal information from children because the app does not collect user data for the developer.
Security
Mood does not operate a central developer database for your entries. This reduces the risk of your mood data being exposed through a developer backend. The security of your data primarily depends on the security of your device and your Apple account settings.
For stronger protection, you can review Apple’s iCloud security settings, including Advanced Data Protection if available for your account.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if Mood changes functionality or to reflect legal requirements. Updates are indicated by the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

Summary
Mood is designed so your data stays under your control. The app does not track you and the developer does not have access to your mood entries, notes, photos, location data, or health-related data.
